Doctor Geraci co-authored an article on Medical Spine Care. Through the Catholic Health Spine Center, he and the physical therapists tracked over 200 patients to determine best outcomes of pain classifcation- based care.
The objectives of care include:
- describe classification for acute and chronic pain
- identify peripheral and central based mechanisms of pain
- determine medical models of spine care
Results of medical model:
- Able to treat 96% without medications, imaging or injections
- only 4% needed to see physiatrist
- saved over $1000 per patient
- fewer patients required surgery
